Our Story
Chad Call
I’m Chad the owner/operator, designer, and craftsman behind Twisted Iron LLC. This endeavor is the product of my background and geographic location. I come from a long line of craftsmen with deep ties to the heritage of the America West. I learned to work with my hands from a young age from my father and grandfather.
I developed a love for working with metal in high school welding class and in my dad’s shop. As I moved into adult life, I started a career as a welder and set out to master the trade in ARC, MIG, and TIG welding. After learning commercial and industrial use welding techniques I decided to master the art of welding with heat and a hammer, and my journey of forging began.
I built my first knife in 2008 and was hooked. Building knives became a creative outlet and then a passion for finding the proper processes for heat treating and quenching of different types of steel.
Over the last 14 years my hobby has taken over my shop and my wife thinks I own more anvils than any one person should. I decided in 2022 to blend my hobby, my heritage, and my entrepreneurial spirit into Twisted Iron. I convinced my wife to do the computer stuff I hate and am now living my best life as a blacksmith, bladesmith, welder, business owner, and family man.
